Education Quality
We keep or even enhance the educational quality of WUR by getting involved in the policy-making process
EDS - Extended Daytime Schedule
EDS is the project started from 2018. This year, the discussion of the EDS is reopened in the Student Council since the EB evaluated it in the July of 2021. The EDS shows that the breaks in between lectures will be reduced rom 20 mins to 10 mins, but the lunch break for students and staffs is increased to 50 mins from 13:10-14:00. The end time of the day would be changed from 19:00 to 18:50. The implementations would be started from the start of the academic year 2022-2023.

International student living fee
Non-EU international students are asked by the WUR to deposit a whole year living fee next to their tuition fee before they can register as students. S&I finds this situation not fair for the international students and according to the IND website*, institutions should allow other ways to prove the financial situation as well. We would like to see the WUR being more flexible in this case and give the financial control back to the students.
Check out the rules in the IND website*
Prevent thesis delay
Unwanted thesis delay occurs frequently among both BSc and MSc students. The Student Council has worked on this project for many years. The working group related to this project has presented a summarizing report. S&I initiated on raising the attention of the benefits to have thesis rings within chair groups and also to let students prepare themselves better before starting the thesis by having a thesis introductory courses.
February inflow
S&I sees the challenges that students face when they start their studies at Wageningen University from February due to smaller-scale AID, fast starting of their program, bad weather in the winter and harder to integrate with other students. We are proactively seeking feedback from the programs which provide this February intake and the students who joined Wageningen at that time. By doing so we as the Student Council could be aware of the situation and help students when needed in time.
More study places for students
During the study weeks, we usually see it’s very difficult to find a nice and quiet study place in the educational building. The student council is trying to help students by asking the student abscissions to open their buildings during the student weeks and looking for corporations with external places at the city center. Furthermore, do you know that you can also find study places on the other buildings on the campus? Explore the campus yourself, maybe you will find a nice place in Atlas or Lumen. Who knows?
